1. Be decent to other people
Disagreement is allowed. Abuse is not. Do not harass, threaten, humiliate, stalk, intimidate or deliberately target another person. Do not encourage other people to pile on to an individual.
2. No hate or dehumanising abuse
Do not attack, degrade or exclude people because of protected or personal characteristics such as race, nationality, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or other protected status.
3. No sexual exploitation or sexual content involving children
TVERN has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Do not create, upload, request, promote, link to, normalise or facilitate child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexual exploitation of minors, or any sexualised content involving a person under 18.
Suspected CSAM or child sexual exploitation may be removed immediately, accounts may be suspended, relevant evidence may be preserved where lawful, and reports may be made to appropriate authorities or specialist reporting bodies where required or appropriate.
4. No sexual exploitation or non-consensual intimate content
Do not share or threaten to share intimate images without consent, solicit sexual exploitation, facilitate trafficking, or use TVERN to pressure or coerce another person sexually.
5. No credible threats, violent wrongdoing or dangerous encouragement
Do not make credible threats of violence, encourage serious harm, coordinate violent wrongdoing or use TVERN to facilitate criminal activity. Context matters, including whether content is clearly educational, newsworthy, preventative or seeking help.
6. No scams, fraud or impersonation
Do not deceive members for money, credentials or personal information. Do not impersonate another person, falsely claim official TVERN status, run phishing schemes, promote fraudulent investments or use the platform to distribute malware.
7. Protect privacy
Do not post another person’s home address, private contact details, passwords, financial credentials, precise live location or other highly sensitive information without a legitimate reason and appropriate consent.
Take particular care with information about children. Avoid exact dates of birth, school details, home addresses, regular routines and other information that could unnecessarily identify or locate a child.
8. Respect anonymous posting
Anonymous posting is designed to make difficult conversations easier, not to remove accountability. Do not harass someone to reveal their identity or attempt to expose an anonymous author through doxxing, technical tricks or coordinated guessing.
TVERN moderators may access the account relationship behind anonymous content when necessary for safety, moderation and legal compliance.
9. Keep meetups safe
Use public places for first meetings and avoid sharing a home address unnecessarily. Do not use Looking For or event features for coercive, sexual, exploitative, deceptive or unlawful activity.
If you feel unsafe, leave the situation and seek appropriate help. TVERN cannot supervise offline meetings between members.
10. Reviews should be genuine
Do not fabricate reviews, coordinate fake ratings, accept undisclosed incentives for a supposedly independent review, or deliberately misrepresent a product, venue or service.
11. No spam or disruptive behaviour
Do not flood discussions, repeatedly post irrelevant promotions, manipulate engagement, automate abusive activity or deliberately interfere with another person’s use of TVERN.
12. Illegal content
Do not use TVERN to create, share or facilitate content that is unlawful. This includes, where applicable, terrorism content, child sexual abuse material, threats, fraud, unlawful hate content, illegal sales and other criminal activity.
13. Self-harm and crisis situations
People may talk honestly about mental health and difficult experiences. Do not encourage, glorify or provide instructions for suicide or serious self-harm. Where someone appears to be in immediate danger, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis service rather than relying on TVERN.
14. Reporting and blocking
Use TVERN’s in-app report tools when content or behaviour breaches these standards. You can block named users and hide specific anonymous content without being told who created it.
Do not misuse reporting tools to harass someone, retaliate against disagreement or intentionally overwhelm moderation.
15. What TVERN may do
Depending on severity, context, previous behaviour and risk, TVERN may:
- remove or restrict content;
- send a warning;
- restrict posting or commenting;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- permanently remove an account;
- preserve relevant safety records; and
- contact law enforcement, safeguarding bodies or other appropriate organisations where legally required or reasonably necessary to address serious risk.
16. Child safety contact
Concerns involving child sexual abuse, exploitation or serious child safety risk should be reported through the in-app reporting tools where available and may also be sent to support@tvern.com with enough information for the concern to be located and reviewed.
17. Appeals and questions
If you believe moderation action was taken in error, contact support@tvern.com. We may ask for account or report details to locate the decision.
